Why Am I Not Shopping?

Spending Thanksgiving with the family was great except that our family seems to be shrinking. I remember when there were 10+ people at our Thanksgiving meal and this year there was 4. It was difficult the first year Brian wasn't at Thanksgiving because it was our first holiday without him... but every year it seems to be fewer and fewer people. Brett had to work which left me as the "fresh meat" at the table with Mom, Dad and Nanny. I'm starting to realize that old people just get older! I guess I never thought Nanny would get so fragile. Saying goodbye was difficult because I just don't know what her health will be like the next time I see her.

Today has been designated by Americans as the biggest shopping day of the year and here I am, sitting at home playing on the internet. I guess that's not a bad thing since 1.) I don't think I should be buying anything at this point since my suitcase is completely full and there's a pile of clothes on my floor that I had to convince myself not to pack and 2.) Do I really want to fight the crowds of people who have travelled from inner Mexico and all over the valley to shop at our small mall? Instead, I am spending my time googling random things, setting up internet banking, and selling/buying on Ebay.

Ebay has now become my favorite thing to do. It is somewhat satisfying to watch your "trash" become someone else's "treasure." I found a few new items lying around my parents house that have selling value and i've taken full advantage. Anything to get rid of clutter.

I am headed back to Austin tomorrow morning to get my apartment all packed up and put into storage which in itself is stressful. I am beginning to appreciate the help my mother always offered when I was moving. It's tough to put everything in boxes and get the apartment all cleaned up. Not to mention that we have a crazy "landlord" breathing on our backs... Grrr. After all the clean up I have errands to run and things to finalize before I head to Belton and take on domestic role... cooking for boys.

It is rather enjoyable to cook for other people... especially guys who aren't used to having food on the table when they get home from work. They are excited to have someone cook for them... If only they keep that attitude their whole lives, they will have happy spouses some day!
It is time to head for the gym and get a little post-thanksgiving cardio in.
